Gypsy Rose Blanchard has initiated divorce proceedings against Ryan Scott Anderson after less than two years of marriage. The news of their split surfaced in March, and Blanchard took to her private Facebook account to address the matter, expressing her need for time to rediscover herself amidst the separation.
In a heartfelt statement, Blanchard stated, “Unfortunately, my husband and I are going through a separation, and I moved in with my parents’ home down the bayou. I have the support of my family and friends to help guide me through this.
I am learning to listen to my heart. Right now, I need time to let myself find … who I am.”
Previous Relationships
Since the separation, Blanchard has been seen in Louisiana with her ex-fiancé Ken Urker, with whom she was previously engaged in 2018. The couple got matching tattoos, signifying a rekindled connection.
Anderson, on the other hand, has opened up about his struggles following the split, admitting that he was taken aback by the sudden turn of events. He revealed to the Daily Mail that he was unaware of Blanchard’s lingering feelings for Urker.
Background
Blanchard’s divorce comes amidst a tumultuous period in her life. In 2015, she pleaded guilty to second-degree murder for her involvement in the death of her mother, Dee Dee Blanchard.
She served seven years in prison before being granted parole in September 2023.
She tied the knot with Anderson in a jailhouse ceremony two years after connecting with him through correspondence while she was incarcerated. However, their relationship began to unravel following her release.
Allegations of Marital Strife
According to Blanchard’s friend Nadiya Vizier, tensions escalated between Blanchard and Anderson, culminating in a disturbing altercation.
Vizier recounted an incident where Anderson reportedly confronted Blanchard aggressively, causing her to fear for her safety.
In Vizier’s words, “Gypsy said that she was afraid he was going to hit her. He didn’t — but that happened in the past with her mother. So, her first instinct was to tighten up and be prepared.”
Current Status
Following the alleged confrontation, Blanchard sought refuge at her father’s residence in Cut Off, Louisiana, signaling the end of her marriage to Anderson and the beginning of a new chapter in her life.
